The entire world has been dealing with the spread of Corona virus. Millions effected, thousands lost their lives and many still suffering. And this is not all, there are still many other consequences of this virus . The imposition of a nation wide lockdown, to curb it's spread, resulted in a distress to people, especially the marginalized. Daily wage labourers were to travel on foot for hundreds of kilometers to reach their homes, business shut and livelihoods effected.
But we all came forward and helped the needy as much as possible, by providing them with food, shelter and a way of transportation for them to reach their places. This was about human beings. But what about the animals? Even they were facing this problem. The street dogs and cats which you'd see when you pass by, what about them? Their food? Their survival? To handle this situation and provide all the stray animals with food, we The Leo Club of Kolkata Royals in collaboration with Societree organised "Hunger free India", an event, which took place in Kolkata from 5th to 7th of October, in which we went to the streets and provided all the animals with food and checked on health.
We all should come forward and help the animals in need as much as we can as Mahatma Gandhiji said 'The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated'.
